iOS 5 (Android Rip-Off?)

Wigley99 asked:

This is basically what was going through my mind as I watched Apple’s promotional video for their latest update for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, iOS 5. I know that I’m not the only person that can see that Apple just copied directly from Android and Windows Phone, there’s no denying it. I hope that this video can create an obvious visualisation of the features so blatantly stolen from their competition. “Lots of people buy iPhones. Therefore they are good.” – There are more flies than humans, and the vast majority of their time is spent eating faeces off the ground, maybe they’re onto something as well? You should give it a try. “iPhones cost more, therefore they are better/You just hate iPhones because you can’t afford one and are therefore jealous.” So the best app on Apple’s App Store was “I Am Rich” because it costs $999.99 and did NOTHING? I would have no problem acquiring an expensive device if I so chose, but I do not desire an iPhone at all, I am quite happy with my Galaxy S for now, and I plan on upgrading to the next best smartphone next year, which is likely to be the Galaxy S 3.

This video is riddled with misinformation and one sided thinking, sure Apple fanboys are as pathetic as Android fanboys but that does not give any of the parts unaccountability with spreading misinformation.
TL;Dr – Too much misinformation and slightly twisted facts make this video irrelevant and just another flame war.

The thing with iOS users is that they are happy with all the limitations Apple puts on them. Flash is bad? OK, no choice for you, we’ll just remove it. Multitasking sucks battery (even though Symbian does it for more than a decade without battery problems)? OK, limit that. File manager/USB Mass storage on phone? No, iTunes is better, so limit that. Bluetooth transfers are useless? Okay, remove that.
And iOS fanboys go: “Yeah, no problem Apple, your choice is our choice. We’ll live with it”..

So it’s ok to justify that although the iPad came after all the tablet PCs, Apple didn’t copy from others but by the same token you wanna claim “BOOM 700 new tablets” as evidence that Apple invented something new and everybody else is copying them? iPhony. Apple invented multi-touch? Do you actually learn anything for yourself or do you just believe what Apple tells you? I’ll give you a hint, 3 actually cuz I’m feeling generous. Microsoft Surface, Mitsubishi DiamondTouch, and Fingerworks.

The technology was not good enough in the 90′ and neither in 2001. That’s why those tablets sucked balls. And Apple does not copy others. Try to look at the whole industry what happened when the Ipad came out… BOOM 700 million new tablets! Its just the way it works. And apple invented multi touch now everyone are using it, again that is fair and its just the way things work.

Right… That’s why it took him almost 20 years, until 2010 to come out with the “iPad” which oddly enough is owned by a Chinese company. Apple is being sued for using the name, go figure. And although Steve Jobs thought of the “big touch screen” in the 90’s, he still didn’t release the iPad even though Microsoft announced their first tablet PC in 2001 and released it the following year. Steve Jobs then released his iPad which he thought of in the 90s, about 10 years after the tablet PCs. iCopy.

You forgot to mention, that the mail client can’t save attachments like i.e. word files to the phone. ROFL
iOS and iDevices are like shiny sports cars, that can go 300 mph, but have no reverse gear, because the manufatures thinks it’s to dangerous for you.

First of all, the iPhone 4S announcement, and subsiquently the announcement that Siri would be built into the 4S, didn’t occur until well after this video was made. Secondly, Iris was developed after Apple bought and implimented Siri into the 4S, not the other way around.

THATs SPOT ON. Kid that go to my school are all rich. There fore they all have iPhones. When a new kid comes they see all the kids with iP’s. Then they buy one to without any further reasearch. But i did some reasearch and acturely found that ip’s are just a BIG ripof.Once again the sad thing is that everyone gets taken over by peer pressure and buys one. Also i a am using the samsung galaxy note wich has a 5.3” screen. Thats about twice the zize of an iP. How much $Apple will make next one bigger
